The Carbonara Festival brings the best of Roman cuisine to Brianza: from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 October, the Area Mercato on Via Paganini in Bovisio Masciago hosts 35 cooks coming straight from Rome. Admission is free and food service runs non-stop. The menu features the great traditional pasta dishes (carbonara, cacio e pepe, amatriciana, gricia), fried specialties such as Jewish-style artichokes, courgette flowers, supplì in three versions and salt cod fillets, plus Roman main courses: oxtail vaccinara, meatballs in tomato sauce, abbacchio scottadito lamb chops, Roman-style tripe, beans with pork rind, chicken cacciatore, Ariccia porchetta, coratella, mixed grill and coppiette. There is also Roman pinsa in 8 versions, Roman puccia in 6 versions, bombe, ciambelle and maritozzi filled with cream, along with beer, cocktails, spritz and wine from the Castelli Romani. Vegan and vegetarian options are available too. For people with coeliac disease there is a separate kitchen on wheels dedicated exclusively to gluten-free food, serving the three traditional pasta dishes, fried specialties, a sandwich with Porchetta di Ariccia IGP and the desserts of the day. Entertainment: Roman stornelli and live Italian music with artists from Rome on Saturday from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm and on Sunday from 1 pm to 3 pm. On Friday at 9 pm, at the Civic Center on Via Leonardo da Vinci, a short walk from the festival, the Music Explosion concert features 4 choirs and 30 live voices. No booking is needed: tables and benches are available with open seating for lunch and dinner, and every dish can also be ordered as takeaway at no extra cost. Dogs are welcome.
