Le Cave del Ceppo

Farm Stay

The Le Cave del Ceppo farm is located in the town of Trezzo sull'Adda and is easy to reach, being just 3 kilometers from the A4 motorway exit. Although located in the industrialized, densely populated province of Milan, it sits in a green, wooded area. The farmhouse facility, set within its own woodland, is on a paved dead-end road, so it is easy to reach yet at the same time isolated and immersed in tranquility. A path starting from the farmhouse building runs alongside the stables and animal pens and crosses the woods, allowing visitors to reach directly the towpath running along the Adda river (an easy path, suitable for strollers, of about 400 m). Besides livestock farming and beekeeping, the farm is accredited both as a farmhouse and as an educational and social farm. Its educational programs are constantly updated, since the world of children, to whom the activities are addressed, is also constantly evolving. The farm's facilities are also suitable for very young children; there are programs for nurseries and kindergartens, as well as for associations working with people with disabilities, since architectural barriers have been removed. Every path and walkway has been designed to make it easy for strollers and wheelchairs to pass too. The farmhouse facility consists of a building with a large, bright, welcoming glass-walled hall that can host individuals, families, groups and school classes. Outside this building is a large courtyard with gazebos, tables and chairs where you can stop to chat, rest and relax, while children have fun with the games available, in the sandpit or on the lawn. The farm hosts dinners, lunches, snacks, tastings, birthday parties for children with guided recreational and workshop activities, company showrooms, coming-of-age parties, anniversaries, baptisms, communions, confirmations and celebrations for whatever the client's imagination suggests. Our dishes are typical of Milanese cuisine: risottos, casoela (cazzuola), tripe, braised donkey meat, kid goat with diced lard and much more. Suggested itineraries or places of tourist interest to visit near the farmhouse. From the farm you can reach directly the banks of the Adda river to see its course, slow and calm at that point, and admire the river valley carved by the waters over millennia. The beautiful green riverbanks are lined by a towpath that can be easily walked at any time of year and in any weather. The road is ideal for a healthy, relaxing walk, also by bicycle, or for an invigorating run. Following the towpath downstream you reach the Taccani Power Station, the Visconti Castle of Trezzo (built with the stone block, or "ceppo", from which the farm takes its name), the Sanctuary of the Divine Motherhood of Mary, Villa Gina (headquarters of the Adda Nord Park), and the town with its villas and parks. On the opposite bank of the Adda river stands the workers' town of Crespi d'Adda (a Unesco World Heritage Site), an example of industrial archaeology. In the village of Crespi, besides visiting the town itself, we recommend a walk along the riverbanks, where you can observe the point where the waters of the Brembo flow into the Adda river. Also of great historical interest is the Leonardo Ecomuseum, a beautiful example of the bond that formed over the centuries between man and the environment, and of how man was able to use the resources of the land and sometimes bend them to his needs. A little further upstream along the river you can find the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Rocchetta. Built on a rocky spur, it overlooks a stretch of turbulent river dotted with rocks and gorges. It is said that this landscape was depicted by Leonardo as the background for the famous painting "The Virgin of the Rocks". Besides the river itself, the area called "l'oasi delle foppe" is of great naturalistic interest: a protected WWF area where now-rare birds nest and protected plants grow, one of which, Ludwigia palustris Elliot, is very rare. Report events or happenings of particular importance taking place near the farmhouse during the year. Of great importance among the area's events is the Sagra, rich in cultural, sporting and recreational events that reach their peak on the first weekend of October. The Carnevale del Povero Piero on the Saturday of Ambrosian Carnival The Adda Danza Festival, of great cultural importance (now in its 14th edition) The slow-food event "Mangiare l'Adda" The Biobiciclettata organized in September by the "Le Foppe" Oasis group The municipal administration and the town's Pro Loco often organize sporting, cultural and food-and-wine events and happenings.

We were there today and it wasn't the first time. Nice place, delicious food and above all safe for us celiacs. Also ideal for those with children, they can move around outside safely. After lunch I recommend a walk by the river reachable with a short trail. Compliments!!!!!
